This book discusses an investigation into the use of Taguchi Parameter Design for optimizing Material removal rate and surface roughness generated by a Computer Numerical Controller (CNC) lathe. Control parameters being consider in this book are cutting speed, feed rate and depth of cut. After experimentally turning sample work piece using the selected orthogonal array and the parameters, this study expected produce an optimum combination of controlled parameter for the surface roughness. And from the result generated, the correlation for Material removal rate and surface roughness with the cutting parameters satisfies a reasonable degree of approximation.

This book is a study about the critical components of CNC machine. As performance of CNC machine great depends on its main or critical components i.e. spindle and ballscrew, and this performance is interrelated with machine tool and machining process. Initially we take spindle for analysis in this report. For analyzing force we take most common process perform on CNC machine say drilling process and turning, in which torque and thrust force is generated, and this force calculated by mathematical modeling. Using this torque and thrust force we are analyzing in ANSYS 13.0 Workbench software. These software gives the most preciously result in analysis and optimization point of view. As the critical components like spindle and ballscrew is to be analyzed for that stress analysis, total deformation and maximum shear stress is carried out in the software. Using this FEA analysis optimization of spindle is being done. And another critical component of CNC machine i.e. ballscrew is analyzing and further checking their acceptability whether it is working within permissible limits or not. And also selection methodology of ballscrew and service life is to be calculated.

Single Point Incremental Forming (SPIF) is a forming technique of sheet material based on layered manufacturing principles. The sheet part is locally deformed through horizontal slices. The moving locus of forming tool (called as toolpath) in these slices constructed to the finished part is performed by the CNC technology. The toolpath is created directly from CAD model of the final product. A general purpose fixture and special forming tools have been designed and implemented to clamp and deform the blanks during the forming process on CNC vertical milling machine, The forming tools are (Ball end, Spherical and Flat with round corner) which are moved along the toolpath while the edges of sheet material are clamped rigidly on fixture. In Incremental sheet metal forming process, one important step is to generate tool path, accurate tool path is one of the main challenge of incremental sheet metal forming process. Various factors should be considered prior to generation of the tool path i.e. mechanical properties of sheet metal, the holding mechanism, tool speed, feed rate and tool size.
